Article by: Kim Ginfrida
Keeping with their commitment to education, the Florence Museum is offering an exciting lineup of classes for the summer months based on the collections of the Florence Museum.
This year the Trustees of the Florence Museum are offering 15 scholarships to students with free admission to a one-week session of Kids Creations! scholarship applications are open to all students between 5 and 12 years old.  Scholarship applications, class registration and information can be either picked up from the Museum, or downloaded from the Florence Museum website at  www.florencemuseum.org.
“The Kids Creations! scholarship program helps the Museum offer more students the opportunity to participate. The Florence Museum supports all forms of art, natural sciences and history. The more we expose our children to real authentic objects the more they connect which makes a powerful impact on the learning process,” Andrew R. Stout, Museum Director, said.
Kids Creations! summer classes range from Can You Dig Ita class based on local archaeology; Recycle Into Art, focusing on new ways to make art using recycled materials and learning the importance of recycling; Draw, Dip & Drip, learning how to show movement, express emotion, and tell stories through the basic elements of art. Each class is one week long, based on South Carolina State Education Standards and embraces art, natural sciences and history. Cost for each class is $85.00 for non-museum members and $60 for museum members. Class information and registration forms are available by calling the museum or by visiting our website at  www.florencemuseum.org. For more information please call the Florence Museum at 843-662-3351. All summer scholarship applications are due at the museum by May 4, 2012.
