Local independent record label, Yonder Music, and the Florence based Americana radio show, Country Fried Rock, are proud to
continue their monthly singer-songwriter showcase hosted by Railroad Junction. The third
installment of the series, called Second
Saturdays Songwriters Circle, will take place on March 10, 2012, and starts
at 4PM sharp. This unique concert event is open to the general public.
Admission is free, but donations are encouraged, and go directly to the
performers.
Each event features three singer-songwriters who will perform their favorite original compositions, as well as share the stories behind the songs they wrote in a unique, collaborative atmosphere. Missy Jones, owner of Yonder Music, and Sloane Spencer, owner of Country Fried Rock wanted to create a new kind of music outlet inFlorence
that would highlight talented songwriters and allow them to showcase their
original works. Both Missy and Sloane are Railroad Junction Art Collective
consigners, and wished to contribute a music based program to the cooperative’s
robust menu of arts offerings.

The February
installment will feature three country singer-songwriters:
Mark Wayne Hagood – Originally
from Sweetwater , Texas ,
Mark has been in the Pee Dee since the mid
'90's. He can be seen playing guitar and singing in local Outlaw music band, Out On Bond. He
has been writing songs since his college days at Texas
Tech University
in Lubbock , TX – which sports a rich musical heritage,
and is also home to songwriters Buddy Holly, Mac Davis, Joe Ely, Waylon Jennings.
Taylor Nealey – At 16 years old, Taylor is the youngest singer-songwriter to
grace the Second Saturdays stage. She’s been passionate about music as long as
she can remember, and has been singing since she was three. She picked up
guitar a little over a year ago and started writing her own songs immediately.
This impressive young Florence native has been
seen performing around the Pee Dee at The
Midnight Rooster, Bean Groovy, and Creek Ratz.
Jay Sellers – This Spartanburg native is a
former winner of the Statewide songwriting contest, and has had two songs from
his last cd featured on The Speed Channel. Jay is a member of the Out On Bond
band, and also fronts his own band, Jay Sellers and the Crew.
Expect some
magic to happen when these three talented artists come together on one intimate
stage inside downtown Florence 's
newest art collective.
The next Second Saturdays Songwriters Circle is
scheduled for May 12th, 2012,
and will feature Jeff
Springs , Rebecca Phipps,
and Rocky Phipps.
