Florence County Seniors Eligible
for the Darby Scholarship Program
Arts-based Scholarship Program to Award Two Scholarships in 2012
The Florence Regional Arts Alliance (FRAA) is currently seeking
applications for its annual Betty Ann Darby Scholarships. High school seniors in Florence County who
will be pursuing advanced academic or professional degrees in an arts
discipline or arts education are eligible.
FRAA awards two Betty Ann Darby Scholarships each year. Awards are given in the amount of $1,000 and
will be for the 2012-13 academic year.
The Betty Ann Darby Scholarship Program is done in collaboration with
Honda of South Carolina.
These prestigious merit-based awards are given in honor of Ms. Betty Ann
Darby. A member of the South Carolina Music Educators Hall of Fame, Ms. Darby
is a much beloved and highly revered former administrator and teacher who
served Florence Public School District One for almost forty years. Since her retirement in 1987, Ms. Darby has
remained an active member in the arts community.
To request an application or additional information, contact the Florence
Regional Arts Alliance at peedeearts@gmail.com. The deadline for submitting this
year’s scholarship application is Friday, May 11th.
Completed application packets should include the application form, three
letters of recommendation, an official transcript, and support materials
showcasing the applicant’s talent in his/her chosen discipline.
