Find me Downtown will take place on Saturday, May 4 in downtown Florence. Presented by Florence Morning News and hosted by Leadership Florence Class of 2013, this all-day festival will kick off at 8am with the 5k at the Morning News. The 5k is $20; $25 after the cut-off date. The route is from Morning News/Poynor (Dargan St.) to Pine, Park, then back around. Race through downtown Florence to connect clues and try to beat other teams to the finish line for a $300 grand prize!! The scavenger hunt is that morning, also, which starts in the front lawn of Poynor. A free kids run will be held right after the 5k.
Each graduating class of the Florence Chamber of Commerce's Leadership Florence program gets the opportunity to create and execute a service project in the local community. The class of 2013 created Find Me Downtown in order to raise funds for Harvest Hope Food Bank, GED scholarships at Poyner Adult Education, and HopeHealth's Hope Fund and Children of Hope programs. The City of Florence and the Florence Morning News have also supported this event in a variety of ways by providing staging, bands, and many other resources.
