Terrariums are not only fascinating indoor micro-climates, but exquisite decorations for any room. Join Rebecca Turk as she teaches you the best construction methods, materials and care. Rebecca’s become known as a “terrarium-aholic” since she currently has 20 in her own home. Her passion for this subject comes alive in this class, so you don’t want to miss it!
The traditional terrarium will be the main focus of the class, though we will discuss other types as well. All materials will be provided including peat, activated charcoal, soil, plants, moss and a beautiful glass container. Sources will be provided for everything so you can build more terrariums at home!
Join us on Friday, May 1, 2015 from 9:30 AM until Noon or for an afternoon session 1:30 PM to 4 PM. Class registration is limited to the first 20 participants, so register quickly! Call (843) 373-8068.

Cost: $5 per person
Come tour Moore Farms Botanical Garden from April 27th through May 3rd at 10:00 am and 2:00 pm each day. Enjoy an informative, enjoyable stroll through the garden with our staff horticulturists while viewing our living sculptures and picturesque views along the way. This tour will emphasize garden design, sculptures and creative elements, including intricate turf designs, the 6000ft2 green roof and living wall. Also, view the art installation inspired and created by well-known artist, Vassiliki Falkehag in our Pine Bay area.
These tours coincide with ArtFields®, an epic art competition and celebration held in the historic community of Lake City, South Carolina. This 10-day event features unique art, live music, dancing, delicious Southern foods and cash prizes totaling $100,000 that will be awarded to winning artists.
Register early since each time slot is limited to the first 20 people. Registration is $5 per person. Plan on wearing comfortable shoes and spending 1.5 to 2 hours on the tour.

December 8: Lake City High School's Community Lights Artshow

December 12: Date Night With Goya

Leave the kids at home for a fun and FREE date night with Francisco Goya! The evening will begin with a screening of the acclaimed Robert Hughes documentary film, Goya: Crazy Like a Genius, followed by an exploration of the Los Caprichos exhibit inside the gallery. Wine and popcorn will be served during the film, which will be shown inside the Historic Bean Market located right next door to the Jones-Carter Gallery at 111 Henry Street.
Date Night with Goya is a program of the Jones-Carter Gallery and is FREE to the public. The film will begin at 7:00 PM. The gallery will be open before and after the film screening for visitors to view the collection.  Gallery staff will be available for guided tours of the exhibit.  Robert Hughes' Crazy Like a Genius runs approximately 76 minutes.

Reservations are NOT required, but please call ahead if you have a large group!

November 21: Artfields Submission Deadline


The submission deadline for the Artfields competition has been extended to November 21 providing artists six extra days to enter work for consideration.

Also announced are review panelists which will select the 400 pieces to be considered. The panelists are William Andrews, director of Ogden Museum of Southern Art in New Orleans; William Eiland, director of Georgia Museum of Art in Athens, Georgia and Leslie Rankow, founder of Leslie Rankow Fine Arts Ltd. in New York City.

The jury which will judge the final competition are:Chad Alligood: curator of Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville, Arkansas, Tyrone Geter: painter and professor of art at Benedict College, Jay Heuman from the  Museum of Fine Arts in Houston and Cecilia Stucker, founder of Curating & Collections.

The Jones Carter Building is Lake City's premier fine art exhibition space. On view is Francisco Goya Los Caprichos, considered to be one of the most influential series of graphic images in the history of Western art.
The Inn At The Crossroads is Lake City's first boutique inn.


Tickets $20 in advance.  $25 day of event from 2 PM-4 PM at The National Bean Market.
