July 13th: The WannaBeatles are coming to Cheraw!



The Cheraw Arts Commission presents the Grammy Nominated Tribute BandThe WannaBeatles on Saturday, July 13.  The WannaBeatles, a high energy band from Nashville, performs both early and later hits of the Fab Four. 
 
They perform unique arrangements of Beatles favorites along with humor and musical parodies.  There are no fake wigs or noses for these guys, as they delight audiences with stories about the songs and their origins.
 
The WannaBeatles has been creating a bit of BeatleMania of their own - playing to crowds of 100,000 at Atlanta's Peachdrop Celebration. They have received standing ovations at events such as The Music City Bowl, The Southern Fried Festival, and Tennessee 's Performing Arts Center.
 
The performance begins at 7:00pm at the Theatre on the Green in Cheraw and is followed by a reception at the Wine Factory.  Attendees will have an opportunity to meet and greet the Wannabeatles.
 
Tickets are $20 for adults and $14 for students up to age 18.  Advance tickets are recommended and available at the Cheraw Community Center located at 200 Powe Street.

January 20th: The British Invasion Continues in Cheraw



The Cheraw Arts Commission presents The Return:  Bringing the Best of the Beatles! On Friday, January 20 at 7:30pm at the Theatre on the Green. The evening features The Return, an Atlanta based group, performing Beatles music of the '60s. 


The Return has brought back the fun, the energy, and the excitement of the pop culture sensation that came to be known as Beatlemania. They have performed all over the world including the Cavern in Liverpool, as well as Abbey Road Studios in London. In Japan they headlined the 40th anniversary celebration of the Beatles visit to Tokyo. In Hermosillo, Mexico they unleashed their Sgt Peppers & Beyond show in front of over 10,000 fans. In the US they were recently named the Atlanta Braves Band of the Year.

Tickets are $20 for a single ticket or $35 for two and are available at the Cheraw Community Center at 200 Powe Street. Call the Cheraw Arts Commission 843.537.8420 x 12 for additional info.

Test your Beatles Knowledge at Beatles Trivia Night on Tuesday, January 17th at The Oyster Bar Restaurant in Cheraw.  Beginning at 6:30pm, this will be a trivia night to remember. Team registration fee is $10 with up to 6 per team.  Call CAC to register team -843.537.8420 x 12.

The Oyster Bar Restaurant is located at 155 2nd Street in Cheraw.


Answers from above:  The girl with kaleidoscope eyes is from Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.  The last song all four Beatles recorded in the same studio was "The End."  Eleanor Rigby picked up the rice in the church where her wedding had been in the song titled Eleanor Rigby.

Beatlemania Begins January 9th at the Burr Gallery in Cheraw



Beatlemania to hit Cheraw in January
The Cheraw Arts Commission has lined up several Beatles-themed events for January.  The British Reinvasion begins with the opening of A Collection of Beatles Memorabilia in the Burr Gallery on January 9th.  The opening reception will take place from 5:30-7pm.  Admission is free and everyone is invited to attend.
The Burr Gallery is located in the Cheraw Community Center- 200 Powe Street. The exhibit will be displayed until January 27th. Gallery Hours are Monday-Friday- 8:30am-5:00pm. This collection is presented through courtesy of the Kilgore family.   
The fun does not end with the Beatles exhibit.  You can test your Beatles knowledge at Beatles Trivia Night on Tuesday, January 17th at The Oyster Bar Restaurant beginning at 6:30pm. Team registration fee is $10 with up to 6 per team.  Call Cheraw Arts Commission to register team - 843.537.8420 x 12.
