Some
people are said to have an “inner-kid.” Andy Offutt Irwin, who is said to have
an “outer-kid,” will perform Saturday, Jan. 14 at the Francis Marion University
Performing Arts Center at two different shows.
The first
show, “Kid Entrapment,” in the center’s smaller, more intimate Black Box
Theatre, will be at 2 p.m. The second show, “Book Every Saturday for a
Funeral,” will be at 7:30 p.m. in the Black Box Theatre as well.
With a
manic Silly Putty voice, astonishing mouth noises, and hilarious stories, he is
equal parts mischievous schoolboy and the Marx Brothers, peppered with a touch
of the Southern balladeer. A native of Covington, Ga., Andy is a
storyteller, humorist, singer, songwriter, musician, whistler, walking
menagerie of sound effects and dialects and so much more.
His show
is the fifth of 10 shows in the “Black Box Events Series” being performed
during the PAC’s inaugural year.
In
addition to the “Black Box Events Series,” there are four others during the
PAC’s season that runs until May of 2012. Those series include, Broadway
plays, concerts, family oriented shows and a variety series as well as the acts
in the smaller, more intimate Black Box Theatre. Information on the complete
season is available at www.fmupac.org.
Prices for
the shows begin at $10 and may be purchased at www.fmupac.org,
via telephone at (843) 661-4444, and at
the FMU Performing Arts Center Box Office. Telephone and personal ticket sales
are available Monday through Friday between 12-5 p.m. Subject to availability,
tickets may be available for purchase at the door.
