Don't Miss the Magic City Survey Exhibit at the Florence Library

The Magic City Survey Finalist Exhibition will be up through December 4th. Don't miss out on this fabulous exhibit.  The Magic City Survey Exhibition, located in the Dr. N. Lee Morris Gallery on the second floor of the Doctors Bruce and Lee Foundation Library, features thirty of the Pee Dee Region’s most talented artists. These Finalists, who were asked to submit works inspired by this year’s theme “Southern Impressions: Depictions of Life in South Carolina,” were chosen out of over ninety entries into the first round of competition. “We were thrilled that so many artists submitted works into the competition and were blown away by the talent that is present in the Pee Dee,” commented Gallery Curator,Hannah Davis. A list of the thirty artists who were accepted into the Finalists Exhibiton can be found on the library’s website, www.florencelibrary.org.

The Finalist Exhibition will be juried by Mary Whyte, celebrated watercolorist from Charleston, South Carolina on December 4, 2012. Also on December 4, Whyte will announce the winners of the Magic City Survey and present her new book, Down Bohicket Road beginning at 5:30PM in the Library’s Joe Stukes Meeting Room. Awards will be given to artists placing first through fourth. The general public also has a chance to pick a winner for the People’s Choice Award by voting inside the Dr. N. Lee Morris Gallery. Artists need the public’s vote in order to receive this distinguished award!

The Dr. N. Lee Morris Gallery is open during regular library hours. This competition was made possible through support from the Florence County Library System and the Friends of the Florence County Library.
