Historic Florence County, an Illustrated History, by Garnette Helvey Bane, has been published by the Florence Heritage Foundation. Garnette Bane is an award-winning journalist from Greenville.
The just-released history of Florence County contains a wealth of pictures from the late 19th century up until the present time. The Florence Heritage Foundation obtained sponsors to help defray the cost of the publication and the sponsors have a section in the book about the history of their organizations.
Agnes H. Willcox, a local historian and preservationist, assisted the editor as did Andrew Stout, director of the Florence Museum.
The book is available for purchase at the Art Trail Gallery, the Visitors’ Bureau at the Florence Civic Center, Porter’s Gift Shop and the Florence Chamber of Commerce. The purchase price is $29.95.
