Patz Fowle, GSSM Students to have work shown at an Art Education Convention in Texas
Darlington County artist Patz Fowle and three students from the South Carolina Governor's School for Science and Mathematics will have work shown at the National Art Education Association's (NAEA) National Convention in Texas in March. Patz, an active member of NAEA, has been teaching at the Governor's School during their Art in the Interim sessions (intensive classes held between semesters). Patz and the GSSM students were chosen to represent the Palmetto State at the convention.
The students with work representing South Carolina and SCGSSM at the national convention are Tobias Holden, Marissa Nino and Rachel Chen.
About the Convention:
The 2013 National Art Education Association National Convention will be held March 7-10 in Fort Worth, Texas at the Fort Worth Convention Center
2013 NAEA National Convention Theme: Drawing Community Connections
The NAEA National Convention brings together the many facets of our visual arts education community like no other event. How can every student have access to excellent art education that develops their intelligence and produces the abilities needed to be college and career ready? The collaborative NAEA professional community possesses extraordinary potential to transform creative, forward-thinking ideas into action—impacting teaching and learning, research, museums, future art educators, and educational policymakers. The 2013 NAEA National Convention will explore the value of community—and how our professional community is essential in advancing visual arts education to fulfill human potential and promote global understanding.
Congratulations to Tobias, Marissa and Rachel! And, of course, 'thank you' to Patz Fowle for continuing to make a difference in the lives of young people across the Pee Dee!
