GSSM Students to have work on display in Hartsville & Columbia

The South Carolina Governor's School for Science and Mathematics art students are represented in two current public art exhibitions in celebration of National Youth Art Month.

GSSM Art students have a wonderful public exhibition featuring ceramic sculptures and watercolor paintings on display at the Hartsville Memorial Library located at 147 W. College Avenue in Hartsville through the end of March.

Tapp’s Arts Center in Columbia is hosting a large group exhibition celebrating National Youth Art Month showcasing student art from over 40 SC schools including the South Carolina Governor's School for Science and Mathematics! This extraordinary exhibition in the main gallery features GSSM ceramic sculptures, water media paintings and the awesome “watercolors in the Rain” mobile created by all of the Art in the Interim students. The group exhibition continues through the month of March at Tapp’s Arts Center 1644 Main Street, Columbia, SC (www.tappsartscenter.com).

GSSM is a STEM-focused public, residential high school in Hartsville, SC for juniors and seniors. During January Interim, a concentrated two-week "mini-mester", students travel nationally or internationally, or take an elective course such as art, music, or cooking. National Art Education Association member Patz Fowle has taught the "Art in the Interim" course for the past 14 years.
