March 26th: Pee Dee Land Trust's Books & Bourbon Tasting

Books and Bourbon Tasting
Tuesday, March 26th
6-8pm
Back Swamp School House
E. Pocket Road between TV and Williston Roads, Florence

Join author Charlie Thompson, curriculum and education director at the Center for Documentary Studies at Duke University, for an evening discussing his latest book, Spirits of Just Men. The book tells the story of moonshine in 1930s America, as seen through the remarkable location of Franklin County, Virginia, a place that many still refer to as the "moonshine capital of the world." The book also chronicles the Great Moonshine Conspiracy Trial of 1935, which made national news and exposed the far-reaching and pervasive tendrils of Appalachia's local moonshine economy, which extended into South Carolina and remains part of our local tradition and history.
A bourbon tasting provided by Micky Finn's will accompany the event, so you must be 21 to attend. Copies of Mr. Thompson's book will be available for purchase. Reservations are required to attend this event.
Cost: $20/PDLT members; $25/non-members
