April 26th: The Hartsville Children's Chorale to perform "Britten to Broadway"

The Hartsville Children’s Chorale will perform “Britten to Broadway” on April 26, 2014 at 7pm at St. Bartholomew's Church.
The Children's Chorale will be performing works from Benjamin Britten's Friday Afternoons, a collection of twelve songs composed for the pupils of Clive House School where his brother was headmaster.  The collection of songs was so named because class singing was held at Clive House on Friday afternoons.
Accompanied by pianist Elaine Dickinson, the Children's Chorale will also sing pieces from Broadway musicals including OliverMary PoppinsThe Sound of MusicAnnieLion KingThe WizFlower Drum Song, and The Prince of Egypt.
This music will be directed by Sandra Howard, Director of the Hartsville Children's Chorale.  “I am thrilled to be featuring children's voices in these delightful songs," notes Sandra Howard. " This performance promises to be very memorable for the audience and for the young people who have worked so hard to reach this level of artistic skill.”
The concert is free of charge, but donations will be accepted.  For more information visit the website at http://www.hartsvillecommunitychorus.org or call 409-3155.
