Beginning Pottery Wheel Classes, Aug 14-Sept 18 in Hartsville

Class: Beginning Wheel
Instructors: Jane Crossman and Jonellyn Dittenhauser

Description: This class is designed to introduce students with little or no clay experience to throwing clay on the wheel. We will learn about the fundamentals of clay, centering, throwing, surface design and firing.

When: Thursdays, August 14 – September 18
Time: 7-9pm
Open Studio Time: Wednesdays during the course from 4-8pm

Six Week Course Fee: $180
Class Size: 4

Course Tuition Includes:
Classroom Time
Access to wheel and studio tools
Additional studio time on Wednesdays between 4 and 8
25lb bag of clay
Kiln Firing
Use of a variety of surface design glazes


At the Willard Jacobs Clay Studio at Black Creek Art Center, we are committed to providing students with an encouraging learning environment that allows individual artistic expression. We seek to explore methods to work with clay and create community in doing so.

At this time we are offering beginning courses with the wheel. If you are a student wishing to explore a more advanced level of instruction, please let us know, as we will be happy to schedule another class.
