July 15th: Chamber Music at Hartsville's First Presbyterian Church



The Hartsville Chamber Ensemble will present a program of patriotic and American music Sunday, July 15 at 4:00 in the sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church. The community is invited and admission is free.

The group is directed by Anna White Hill, accompanied by Ronda Wilkes McElveen, and assisted by Penny Rogers, flute, and Preston Watson, cello. Singers are Betsy Johnson, Sharman Poplava, Holly Prescott, Candace Holcombe, Kaye Mc Elveen, Victoria Norment, Steve Rogers, Tim Smoak, Pat Youngblood, Dave Godshalk, terry poplava, and Matthew Zold.

Selections include The Star-Spangled Banner, America, the Beautiful, Buttermilk Hill; four songs arranged by Aaron Copland;At the River, The Little Horses, The Dodger (Terry Poplava, baritone), Ching-a-Ring Chaw; spirituals and folk songs (Deep River, Ride On, King Jesus, Black is the Color of My True Love's Hair, 'Tis the Gift to Be Simple,) and more.

April 1st: The Hartsville Chamber Ensemble to present its Spring Concert



The Hartsville Chamber Ensemble will present a spring concert Sunday, April 1 at 7:30 in the sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church.  The performance will include an eclectic mix of some of the favorite selections previously performed by the singers.  Selections will include classical selections, spirituals, folksongs,old hymns and  jazz pieces,  The group, in its seventh season, is directed by Anna White Hill. Singers are Betsy Johnson, Sharman Poplava, Holly Prescott, Candace Holcombe, Victoria Norment, Steve Rogers, Tim Smoak, Pat Youngblood, Dave Godshalk, Terry Poplava, and Ben Youngblood.

The ensemble wii be assisted by Ronda McElveen and Jun Matsuo, piano; Serena Hill,soprano; Penny Rogers, flute and Graham Wood, French horn.

The concert is free, and the community is invited to attend.
