December 4th: 'Live @ Central' to feature Coker College's Music Program

The Live at Central Christmas program begins with the return of the students and faculty of the Coker College Music Program. The Coker Christmas Festival features the college’s premier choral ensemble, the Coker Singers, as well as the Chamber Singers, Men’s Vocal Ensemble, and members of the music faculty. This is a return command performance, as many of you remember these musicians began our Christmas music season last year. The program will be led by Dr. Will Carswell, Chair of the Department of Music, Theatre and Dance at Coker College and the Music Director and Conductor of the Masterworks Choir in Florence.

For the “Live @ Central” evening, the Program begins at 6:30 on December 4th. There is a dinner at 5:30pm. Cost is $5 for adults and $2 for children.

November 6th to December 31st: 3rd Annual 'A Beautiful Black Christmas' Exhibit in Kingstree

A Beautiful Black Christmas is a showcase of Black Angels, Santas, Nutcrackers, Nativity Scenes and Christmas Trees decorated with Black ornaments.

The Rush Gallery is open Wednesday-Saturday from 11AM to 6PM.

For all exhibitions, Please call for group and other appointment times at 803.397.1859. School groups are encouraged to attend all of the educational exhibits. Admission is $5 per person.

The Rush Gallery is located at 200 Hampton Avenue in Kingstree.

November 20th through January 15th: 'Simply Christmas' at the Hartsville Museum

"Simply Christmas" will be on display at the Hartsville Museum from November 20 through January 15.

The tree will be trimmed, the stockings hung and the large front doors will be ornamented with the traditional wreaths and red bows. Of course one highlight of the season is the reassembling of the Colonial Village display with its many lights and trees. Christmas cards, dolls, and other toys from days gone by are removed from storage and brought out to the delight of visitors both young and old.

Gallery hours are Mon-Fri 10am-5pm and Sat 10am-2pm. Admission is free.

The Hartsville Museum is located at 222 North Fifth Street in downtown Hartsville.

November 9th: Celebrating with Santa’s Elves and the FLT Friends

Tickets are on sale for LUNCH WITH SANTA, sponsored by Florence Little Theatre Friends, for children accompanied by an adult. This upcoming holiday event will be held in the Rainwater Rehearsal Hall on Saturday, November 9, immediate following the 11am Schoolhouse Players’ performance of “Santa’s Elves and the Shoemaker.”

The poor Shoemaker and his very demanding wife are going through rough times. Then one night they are visited by two silly, bumbling elves. Their assignment is to help the Shoemaker make shoes. The results are as silly as the elves.

Tickets are $15 per person for the show including the lunch. Reservations must be made by calling the FLT office at 662-3731 before November 7th. There is limited seating for 80 guest who will be delighted with special holiday entertainment. All proceeds from Friends’ fundraisers benefit FLT and especially our programs for children and young people.
