A new photography exhibit is displaying Lake City to the world at large through the recently unveiled INSIDE OUT Project.
Driving down East Main Street you might recognize a few faces in the crowd plastered on the side of a building at 142 E. Main St. There are 54 large portraits on display as part of a worldwide exhibit featured in 108 countries with more than 120,000 people participating.
“It’s a tribute to all of the Artfields competition venues and venue owners,” said Artfields Fine Arts Coordinator Sandy Cook. “A single person can use art as a single story and be a cause of action.”
The exhibit is meant to be a call of action around a theme specific to a community. Lake City’s theme is “Local Matters” and features area entrepreneurs, artisans and owners of all business types.
“When you see the photos it creates interest,” Cook said. “They all are related back to business. You get the idea of all the small businesses that have been here for years, some for generations, and it takes our small businesses to make Artfields work.”
Artfields kicks off April 25 with several events scheduled. Among the events are the Farmers and Artisans Market, Greater Lake City Artists Guild Exhibit and an opening celebration. For a full schedule of events log on to www.artfieldssc.org.
