Adopt-A-Pet from GSSM at the Hartsville Memorial Library

We’ve all been tempted to adopt a pet from our local humane society.  Admit it; the thought has crossed your mind.  If, like me, you’ve never done it, it’s always because of some reason like “I can’t afford another mouth to feed” or “my wife will shoot me.”

Beginning January 19th, the Hartsville Memorial Library will be teaming up with the Governor’s School for Science & Math (GSSM) and Patz Fowle to give you the opportunity to adopt a pet without the aforementioned worries.

How is that?  Well, Fowle recently taught at GSSM for their Art in the Interim and one of the projects required the students to create clay animals in the style of Patz’ Pottery Petz.  Those petz will be on display at the Hartsville Memorial Library from January 19th to the end of February and you can adopt them.  No mouth to feed and you’ll have a one-of-a-kind sculpture in your home; sounds like a winning proposition, right?  To top it off, all proceeds will go to the Darlington County Humane Society or the Hartsville Memorial Library.

The Hartsville Memorial Library is open Monday -Thursday 9am-8pm, Friday 9am-5pm, Saturday 10am-2pm and Sunday 2pm-5pm.  Drop in and pick up your Pottery Pet and help out two worthwhile and notable organizations.  You can also see additional artwork created by GSSM students during their Art in the Interim.
