The Hartsville Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) will present a performance by the Phillis Wheatley Repertory Theater of Greenville at its 28th Annual Freedom Fund Celebration on Saturday, November 10 at 7:30 p.m. at the Center Theater, 212 N. Fifth St.
A Hartsville favorite, the Phillis Wheatley Repertory Theater will perform A Night of Stars and Dreams, a theatrical performance featuring a mix of drama, song and soul. The cast will feature talented teenage actors, singers, dancers and musicians. For nearly 20 years, the Phillis Wheatley Repertory Theater has provided African American performing artists with an outlet to develop their talents. The group's founder, Dwight Woods, has kept the theater troupe alive by the sheer force of his unyielding belief in young people.
Each year, for its Freedom Fund Celebration, the NAACP brings to Hartsville renowned stellar entertainers that are enjoyed by people of all backgrounds and ages.
