February 19: The Art of a Story in Mullins
Back by popular demand please join the Arts Council of Marion County for "The Art of a Story" storytelling show and dinner to be held on Thursday, February 19, 2015, 7:00 p.m. at O'Hara's Restaurant in Mullins. Ticket price is $20.00 and can be purchased at the office of ACMC, HMRA, and the Emporium.

March 25th: Taste of Marion County in Mullins
2014 Annual Taste of Marion County to be held on Tuesday March 25 from 5:30 to 8:00 pm. Come sample foods from over 15 of our local restaurants and caterers.
Enjoy entertainment, raffles, drawings and prizes!!
The Taste of Marion County will be held at the Academy for Arts and Technology located 2697 E. Hwy 76 Mullins, SC.
Ticket prices are $15 for adults, $10 for ages 7-12, 6 and under FREE.

June 14th: The Latta Community Singers to perform at the Marion Opera House
The Arts Council Marion County
will present The Latta Community Singers
at the Marion Opera House
at the Marion Opera House
The concert is free and everyone is invited to enjoy the 28-member community
choir in this historic theater setting. The singers and musicians will perform
such favorites as "Home Is Where the Heart Is," with words and music by
Carl Strommen and featuring the duet of Rachel Caulder and Cheryl Stubbs;
and "Day-O (The Banana Boat Song)," words and music by Irving Burgie and
William Attaway and arranged by Alan Billingsley., which features soloist
Gerald Berry. Other songs sure to entertain and please will include "Bill Bailey,
Won’t You Please Come Home?, "I’m Going Home," and "Home."
Director of the group is Cindy LeGette and musicians include Susan Johnson, piano; James Caulder, fiddle; William Hayes, guitar; Eddie Hayes, banjo; Frank Easterling, string bass; Carol Stoops and LeGette, flute; and Anthony McCall and Travis Power, percussion.
Doors open at 6:30 and seating is first come, first served. Reception follows.
The Marion Opera House is at 100 West Court Street, just off Godbold Street in Marion. The brick multi-purpose community building was built in 1892 and served as a police station, jail, fire department, meat market and town council meeting room, with a large auditorium upstairs. The two-story rectangular brick structure is a simple classic-revival design.

Each month there is a Marion Foodie meeting and a Marion

It’s a Month of Art in the Marion County Museum! In
addition to the exhibit of the winning art from the Blue Savannah Swamp Fox
Chapter DAR Women in History Art contest, also on display during March in the
Marion County Museum will be the artwork of Glen Hayes of Dillon. Museum Hours
are 9 a.m.-noon and 1-5 p.m. Tuesday - Friday. Also on display throughout the
museum are works of art from Marion County students of all grades. Support the
arts and check it out!

News from the Arts Council of Marion County
The Arts Council of Marion County has created a Foodie of Marion County group that visits various locations, all in the name of enjoying good food together. The next Foodie night is Friday, Sept. 9 when the group will meet at 6pm at Cabana’s on U.S. Highway 76. Check the group’s Facebook page for updates, or call Brian Nolan, ACMC president, for details at 843.250.4322.
