February 2nd-4th: Heritage Arts Festival at Savannah Grove Baptist Church in Florence



February 2nd through 4th, the Heritage Arts Festival will be held in the Roots of Savannah located on the campus of the Savannah Grove Baptist Church in Florence.
Check out each day's events below:
February 2
The festival will kick off on Thursday at 12:30 pm with a luncheon featuring legendary gospel singer Norris Turner.  This luncheon, known as the  Matriarch/Patriarch Luncheon, presents the opportunity for families to honor and pay tribute the head of their families past and present. We encourage sons, daughters, nieces and nephews to purchase a ticket for the Matriarch and/or Patriarch of their family and salute them during this event of heritage.
February 3
Friday will feature TDK Mime. They will perform for the Special Needs Students in the area at 11:00am and again during the late night musical, which begins at 10pm. Also on Friday, Marlene O'Bryant Seabrook of Charleston will begin her quilting workshop. Interested persons may register by calling 843-468-8675.
February 4
Saturday will feature a Heritage Re-enactment Competition at 11:00am. Any person interested in participating may call 843-662-7851. At 1:00 pm, come and trace your family roots at the Heritage Festival Genealogy Workshop. This workshop will feature research techniques and steps for tracing your family background through use of today's technology.

January 13th: Friday the 13th is Funday the 13th in the Pee Dee.


On January 13th, you can get your morning started at 7:30am with the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Interfaith Prayer Breakfast at Savannah Grove Baptist Church in Effingham and then spend some time in downtown Florence at Railroad Junction's all-day music and art event.  In the evening, there's the opening reception for Carte Blance: The FMU Art Experience at the Art Trail Gallery on Dargan Street in Florence.  The opening starts at 5:30pm and admission is free.

The bottom line is you shouldn't be bored on Friday the 13th in the Pee Dee.
