The Coker College theater program will host its Summer Theater Camp forstudents ages 8 to 16, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, July 8-19.
The educational program, which provides instruction in a broad spectrum of theater subjects through participation in games, music, dance and rehearsals, will culminate in a fully-staged production of “Disney’s Beauty and the Beast Jr.” Thursday, July 18 and Friday, July 19.
Featuring songs from the Academy-Award-winning animated feature including “Be Our Guest,” “Home” and “Something There,” this stage version of “Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Jr.” includes music by Alan Menken and the late Howard Ashman, new songs by Mr. Menken and Tim Rice and a book by Linda Woolverton.
Tuition for the Summer Theater Camp is $90 for both weeks, and campers who wish to perform in “Disney’s Beauty and the Beast Jr.,” must attend both weeks of camp. Registration payments can be made in full or on a weekly basis but must be paid in full by the first day of camp.
Previous productions of Coker’s Summer Theater Camp included “Seussical Jr.” in 2011 and “Annie Jr.” in 2012.
