May 12: Red Doe Plantation Program at the Florence County Library

Red Doe Plantation, one of Florence County’s oldest landmarks, will be featured in a presentation at the Drs. Bruce and Lee Foundation Library on Tuesday, May 12 at 6:30 p.m.  Speaker Agnes Willcox, Chair of the Historic Florence Foundation, will discuss the history of the 169 year-old plantation as well as ongoing restoration efforts.

Willcox states, “Red Doe Plantation is one of the few remaining Florence County historic properties that retains much of its original features. We hope that a full renovation will be done in the foreseeable future.”

January 8th: Agnes Wilcox to speak about the Historic Florence Foundation

Mrs. Agnes Wilcox, chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Historic Florence Foundation, will be the speaker at the first "Live @ Central" program of 2014 on Wed. January 8.  The program will include the history of the Foundation and the activities of the organization over the years.  The commitment of the Foundation to "preservation and restoration" in the Florence area has been recently demonstrated by it's involvement in the Florence Trust Building issue and now with the Red Doe Plantation "rescue" effort.  Anyone interested in learning about or getting involved in the preservation and restoration of historical sites in the Florence area will be excited about this presentation and the public is encouraged to attend.

 

For the “Live @ Central” evening, the Program begins at 6:30.  There is a dinner at 5:30pm. Cost is $5 for adults and $2 for children.
