Regional Guild to hold jury for membership in October in Hartsville

An affiliate group of the South Carolina Cotton Trail, the Artisans of the South Carolina Cotton Trail began with assistance from the South Carolina Arts Commission.  Their mission is to bring together artists, artisans, and retailers for the benefit of marketing, tourism, education, and shared resources.

Currently numbering nearly 30 artists, the group jointly participates in shows throughout the region including wholesale and retail shows.  Group critiques are held periodically, as are educational workshops for members.  The current ASCCT website is http://www.peedeeart.com/cotton-trail.html

The 2013 Jury for Membership will be held Monday, October 21, at Black Creek Arts Council in Hartsville, SC.

Artists will be expected to bring five works.  All work must be original, designed and made by the artist.  Accepted categories include fine and traditional crafts, locally produced food items, music items, and all fine arts media including modern and experimental media.  Work  is expected to be at a very high level both in terms of its artistic vision and its technical execution.

Artists who reside in Chesterfield County, Darlington County, Florence County, Lee County or Marlboro County, or any artist using cotton in their work as a material, or depicting cotton, is eligible to participate in the jury.  Any interested artists should contact Jury Chair Beth Wicker at ruralart@earthlink.net to sign up and for more information.
