February 24th: Jill Brantley to perform her Senior Voice Recital at Coker College

Jill Brantley, a senior from Blythewood, S.C., will perform in a recital at 4 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24 in the Hannah Lide Coker Recital Hall.

A mezzo soprano, Brantley is and a musical theater major at Coker College.  She played roles in musical productions, such as “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” and “Urinetown.”  Brantley was also responsible for stage management in “The Laramie Project.”
“I am excited about my recital,” said Brantley. “I’m performing many pieces including German selections by Felix Mendelssohn, several Chinese mother goose rhymes and musical theatre songs.  I plan to continue performing after I graduate.”

“The audience members will probably not know how hard Jill has worked over the last year to prepare for this monumental challenge,” said Serena Hill, assistant professor of music. “They will be too busy enjoying the experience! Jill has a sparkle when she performs. One can't help but be drawn in to her!”

Coker College offers a major in music with concentrations in voice, piano and musical theater. Coker also offers a major in theater with concentrations in performance or technical theater, and a major in dance with concentrations in performance/choreography and movement analysis/therapies.

This concert is free and open to the public.  For more information about performing arts programs at Coker College, contact Wes Atkinson at watkinson@coker.edu or (843) 383-8050.
