November 11: Florence Symphony Youth Orchestra Fall Concert Salutes Veterans

The Florence Symphony Youth Orchestra’s (FSYO) annual fall concert is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday, November 11, at the First Presbyterian Church, 700 Park Avenue, Florence. However, in addition to the FSYO fall repertoire, this year’s performance includes patriotic music as a special tribute to United States Veterans. All veterans are encouraged to attend.

“We have been fortunate with our auditions this season and found very talented musicians to replace those who graduated our program,” said Dr. Terry Roberts, Music Director of the Florence Symphony Orchestra. “It’s always heart-warming to witness our youth orchestra members as they continue to grow and excel in their gift and love of music.”

The concert is FREE to the public and is a family-friendly event.

About the FSYO.
The Florence Symphony Youth Orchestra (FSYO) is made up of talented 6-12th grade students from the Pee Dee Region. The FSYO presents two community concerts each season: fall and spring. In addition, the FSYO performs an annual concert for 4th grade elementary school students at the FMU Performing Arts Center (PAC). The FSYO has grown over the past decade to be comprised of an estimated 30 students from the community.
Graduates of the FSYO have earned scholarships to some of the best schools and universities: South Carolina Governors School of the Arts & Humanities, Eastman School of Music, Francis Marion University, University of South Carolina’s School of Music, Yale University, Cornell University, and to study music in Russia.
